YouTube has many stories of its users achieving internet stardom. Now, Google’s YouTube has decided to invest in its home-grown talent. The video platform by Google on Thursday made the announcement that it will be investing in those users who have put to use creativity on their way to internet popularity. These deals are aimed to persuade such users to produce better quality content to be posted on the video sharing platform. Alex Carloss, head of YouTube Originals, said in a statement that the fund invested would coax the top video creators of video sharing website to not only fulfil their creative urges but also provide new better quality contents for the millions of followers on the website.

This has not been for the first time that Google’s YouTube has sought to invest on specific channels. In the year 2011, YouTube made investments in channels specific to Hollywood. Ashton Kutcher and Sofia Vergara centric channels were amongst the limited number of Hollywood channels which received investments from YouTube. However, not many of these channels got renewed. This time around, YouTube is concentrating on widely popular video makers who choose unique contexts for their videos and yet have tremendous potential for going ‘viral’. Fashion vlogger Bethany Mota is to be included in this specific user investment. This endeavour would also include Epic Rap Battles of History which is famous for his character pairing like The Batman and Sherlock Holmes in battle of words.

Creative Content developers’ demand gets soaring

This value of creativity among YouTube users hasn’t gone unnoticed among the competing top websites across the internet. Websites like Vimeo might not have the ubiquitous approach of Google’s video sharing platform; but it is leaving no effort to entice its users with payments for being more creative and reap the benefits of their creation on the website. Facebook has also allegedly made an endeavour to coax YouTube video creators to opt for Facebook instead of YouTube.

YouTube is exploring new monetary channels in order to be less dependent on its earnings which come from the advertisements but has to be shared with Google. Prior to introducing this unique talent promotion programme by offering them funding, YouTube has initiated the concept of Fan Funding wherein fans directly convey their pecuniary encouragements for the content creators whom they have a liking for. The Creators can also avail to deals for advertisement, product promotion by product placement alongside their content if their followers are willing to invest.
