Twitter Timeline changes follows Favourite Tweets experiment

In last half a decade, Twitter emerged as one of the top used social networking platforms. Of late, Twitter has endeavored in several experiments to keep up the competition ante with rival social networking platforms like Facebook coming out with regular modifications; and Twitter Timeline change is the most recent effort in this context. Twitter made a modification rather, an extension, of its definition of ‘What is a Twitter Timeline?’ Here, it states that the social networking platform would provide identification of any concerned Tweet or following up of an account or event in accordance with the relevance of its popularity and interaction in your social network. In simple words, this Twitter Timeline change implies that one might see contents from accounts, events which the person is not following deliberately until now.

This modification by Twitter was first launched as a pilot project with only a selected group of users and is now introduced on panoramic basis. However, Twitter Timeline change has not been appreciated as ideally as its introducers would have anticipated. The change is perceived by many as an intrusion in the fundamental functioning of Twitter because prior to this modification, Twitter was a social networking platform wherein one would see on those aspects which one wants to; apart from occasional re-tweets and sponsored tweets. Now, timeline modification makes it resemble Facebook and its News Feed, where the users would be treated with popping up of ‘relevant tweets’ to inform them with about things which might fall in the domain of their interest. It remains to be seen whether these new modifications would add to the popularity of Twitter or not.
